The first few chapters are extremely slow but anyone who loves military novels would love that part. Dinosaurs roam the nearby islands, and there seems to be a truly horrific war going on between a lemur-like people and a fierce lizard-like group.

In terms of world-building, this is more establishing a concept than truly executing on it, but Anderson lays out enough detail to make the story work, and to make you want to keep reading.

You’ll read a moderate amount of profanity here; these guys are a World War II destroyer crew, after all. It may take an anthropologist, or someone more expert with such things than myself, to know what is really going on here. Tye will be rewarded.
